US Representative Lauren Boebert sparked her latest social media controversy on Thursday when she criticized a school shooting survivor who became an arms control activist.
Freshman Republican Silt, known for eye-catching social media posts, was accused on Twitter of being a threat to the security of the United States Capitol by David Hogg, who survived the 2018 shooting in Parkland, Florida, in which 17 people died.
“David, please,” replied Boebert in a quote tweet. “We all saw how tough you were when asked face to face. Give your keyboard a rest, child. “

The congresswoman was apparently referencing a video posted earlier this week that now shows US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, pestering Hogg about gun control on the streets of Washington, DC, in 2019. Greene is a theorist the conspiracy that allegedly believed the shooting in Parkland and the shooting in Las Vegas in 2017 were false.
Boebert’s criticism of Hogg, who has become an important supporter of gun control since the shooting in Parkland, has drawn criticism from Colorado Democrats.
“In my experience, those who have not suffered the trauma of mass shootings are usually the hardest ones”, tweeted Congressman Jason Crow, a Democrat from Aurora and an advocate for gun control, often criticizes Boebert online and in the air. “But the tough conversation and the intimidation of the survivors is the definitive sign of weakness.”
