After almost five years in development, System shock is finally leaving. In an update on the project’s Kickstarter page, developer Nightdive Studios said it plans to release its remake of the 1994 classic PC sometime in “late summer 2021”. Not only can you pre-order the title today (on and on), there’s a new demo to check out.
Nightdive Studios CEO Stephen Kick said the demo represents a “complete” version of the game. For this, you will be able to see the new lighting and breakdown systems in real time of the remake in action. Since then, the studio has also added new voice acting, more detailed environments and a new system that will dynamically adjust the game’s soundtrack when you enter combat. There is also an added cyberspace element that will allow you to hack open doors at Citadel Station. The hope is that the demonstration will allow people to “understand exactly what they will receive if they order in advance”.
