The Regé-Jean Page spoon is Bridgerton’s hottest thing

Bridgerton has many very sexy moments. The Netflix show, based on the historical novels by Julia Quinn, is the perfect 18th century bodice ripper – literally: many corsets were passionately ripped in the making of this show. However, there is a scene – a moment to blink and you’ll lose – that seems to be taking the world by storm, and involves a lucky spoon.

Much like the Connell chain in Normal people, I didn’t understand the sex appeal of a mundane metal object until I saw Regé-Jean Page use silverware in Bridgerton. Like the swing of Connell’s little silver necklace, there was something about the way Page licks a spoon that made me feel dizzy:

Page, which is an anatomical marvel, plays Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings. A bold and disreputable bachelor, Simon has problems with his father that are so deep that he refuses to have children and continue his family line. Despite this, he is a well-known “libertine” – who is Jane Austen for fuckboy – and Bridgerton it’s very free when it comes to, ahem, illustrating this.

That said, while we see the Duke of Hastings’ bare chest and ass a lot, there is something about the way he licks a spoon that he hits with an alarming force. While he does this several times throughout the show, there is a moment when he is in the pastry shop with his fake bride, Daphne Bridgerton, enjoying a creamy dessert, which is particularly disturbing:

?!?!?!?!?!?!

Perhaps it is his frown, the way his expression is almost contemplative. Or, perhaps your tongue is the attraction: how does it lightly caress – provoke? – and then gently wrap the spoon.

I’m going to stop now, because I think I’m writing erotic fiction. I will just say that Daphne’s inspiration and expression – as if she were about to fall dead on the spot – is something I can relate to deeply:

Girl…
