The redesign of Google mobile search focuses on results, not embellishments

Soon, you’ll have an easier time searching the web using your phone. Google is launching a visual redesign of mobile search that should help you focus on results, rather than … well, on everything around you. Results pages now run end-to-end with larger text, less shadows and more intentional use of colors to illustrate what’s important. You should find what you’re looking for much faster, said Google.

It should also be more “Googley”, with more rounded images of the company and greater use of the company’s signature source.

You will see the renewed mobile search coming to your phone in the “next few days,” said Google.

This is not a night shift, but it may be welcome. At first glance, Google is recognizing that phone searches are all about speed – great graphics don’t matter much when you’re in a hurry to tap the most relevant link. In that sense, the redesign will be more successful if you spend less time looking at it.
