The reboot of Sex and the City will not feature Chris Noth’s iconic character, Mr Big

The Sex and the City reboot will not feature one of the show’s most iconic characters – Mr Big.

The return of the popular American comedy to HBO Max will not cause Chris Noth to repeat his role, despite the character being married to Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw in the previous series and subsequent derivative films.

Page Six reported that Noth, 66, will not be part of the ten-episode series, which is being titled And Just Like That.

Mr Big proved to be Carrie Bradshaw’s weak point as she agonized to go out with him before they became a couple and eventually got married in the 2008 film.

Even at the wedding, their relationship proved to be a test when the 2010 film investigated their marital struggles.

Joining him at the reboot will be David Eigenberg, who plays Steve Brady, the romantic interest of Cynthia Nixon’s character, Miranda Hobbes.

There will also be no place for Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones, with her vocalizing her dislike for Sarah Jessica Parker, although that has been minimized in recent months.

Talking about the return of the program, Sarah said in a pre-recorded clip broadcast at a virtual benefit event for the Central Park Conservancy’s Playground Partners program, that the idea initially came up “during the on-site shelter” orders last spring amid the coronavirus outbreak.

She said, “I mean around April or May … I was listening to a podcast and it occurred to me that [showrunner] Michael Patrick King and I had never talked about our experience of working and producing the show. “

Sarah said the idea went from being a technical podcast about how the show was produced to becoming a complete reboot that will see how the characters deal with the pandemic.

Sarah continued: “New York has closed in a way that affects many other people because it is the center of finance, it is the center of culture, it can be argued, and its silence was deafening.

“All of these conversations were becoming a big part of our experience inside our homes, Michael and I were really interested.

“And so it was born – and exactly so.”
