The real PS5 silicon processor is revealed in these first beautiful photos

As the world continues to wait for a chance to buy the PlayStation 5, we continue to put Sony’s next generation console under the microscope – literally, when we show you the 40,000 tiny PlayStation symbols hidden in each gamepad, and now somewhat figuratively with what we believe to be the first close-up photos of the real PS5 silicon of photographer Fritzchens Fritz (through VideoCardz)

Above, you can see one of Fritz’s beautiful close-ups of the liquid metal interface that Sony uses to keep the PS5’s temperatures in check. Below, find an impressive monochrome portrait of him framed against the motherboard:

Let’s flip vertically, shall we? This is a high resolution version that you can blow up more easily (just touch it first):

And here’s what you’re really seeing, according to an attempt to analyze the die shot that Fritz retweeted:

This is where you might be tempted to delve into some technical details – perhaps argue how the PS5’s silicon compares to its Xbox counterpart or AMD’s PC versions – but I suggest you resist for now. On the one hand, the results are more important than the specifications, but perhaps more importantly, we haven’t finished seeing the amazing photos yet!

Let’s expand even more. “To improve!”

And here’s one more, extended to the region where the Zen 2 cores of AMD’s CPU live:

That’s all Fritz has come up with on the PS5 so far, but if those kinds of photos excite you, I definitely recommend spending some time on Fritz’s Flickr page, where you’ll find an incredible number of vibrant, up-close and personal photos, public domain silicon photos that jump straight from the page. PCGamesN he called Fritz a “silicon pornographer” and it’s not hard to see why.
