Amid another ‘thumbs up’ scandal, a Brazilian bikini model said that a ‘like’ of Pope Francis’ Instagram account last month not only increased her number of followers and profits, but also inspired her to post photos more humble.
There was a big scandal after the official Instagram account of the head of the Catholic Church appreciated a photo of Natalia Garibotto as a ‘sexy cheerleader’ in late November. The news made international headlines and sparked an investigation in the Vatican.

Still, apparently she wasn’t the only one to receive some divine appreciation, as model Margot Foxx, active on the OnlyFans subscription platform, also posted a screenshot in November showing a like on the same page below her photo in a swimsuit fair black. Her story, however, only went viral this Christmas week, when she published it while saying “The Pope liked my photograph, which means I’m going to heaven.”
When the new scandal made headlines, the original favorite in the Pope’s account, Garibotto, described how his own life changed in the past month. The Brazilian – who called herself a religious and church attendant – confessed to the New York Post’s Page Six that she suddenly “divine intervention” was a “big deal” that left her “Shocked.”
The hype also turned out to be very good for business. “I make money from Instagram,” she explained, adding that the attention of the pontiff’s report gave her “More leverage” on brands in the advertising business, as well as 600,000 extra followers.
The 27-year-old, who is not afraid to show off her wide curves, usually takes photos in bikinis – but the flow of more religious and Pope-loving spectators gave her “Confidence to post more in clothes and do business in fashion.”
It is highly unlikely that her photo, or Margot Foxx’s post, was “appreciated” by Francis himself. After the first mistake, the Vatican said that “We can exclude that the ‘similar’ came from the Holy See.” The Pope’s representatives explained that his account is being managed by a team of social media experts, one of whom probably did a “mistake.”
