The Department of Defense is preparing to release a hard-hitting report detailing the time of Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) as the main physician of the White House during the Obama and Trump administrations.
According to the Pentagon inspector general’s report, a copy of which was obtained in advance by CNN, Jackson made “sexual and disgraceful” comments about a colleague, drank alcohol during presidential trips in violation of the protocol and slept soundly. medicine that made coworkers concerned about the care he could provide.
The report is the result of an investigation initiated in 2018.
He claims that Jackson had an explosive temper, with respondents telling the Pentagon watchdog that he would be heard “shouting, shouting, cursing or belittling subordinates”.
He was also seen drinking on presidential trips, including one in 2014 to Manila, during which he apparently got drunk and made inappropriate comments about a colleague who worked with him. Similar comments were also reportedly heard on other trips.
At least six respondents told the inspector general that Jackson also took Ambien on long flights while he was on duty, leaving them concerned that he would not be able to provide care due to the drug’s ability to cause drowsiness and reduce alertness.
Neither the Pentagon’s inspector general nor Jackson responded immediately to The Hill’s requests for comment.
In a statement to CNN, Jackson criticized the report as an attempt by Democrats to taint it. Jackson retired from the Navy in 2019 and won his spot at Texas House last year.
“I am proud of the work environment that I have promoted under three different presidents on both sides; I take my professional responsibility regarding prescription drug practices seriously; and I categorically reject any claim that I consumed alcohol while working,” said Jackson. .
“My entire professional life was defined by duties and services. I served my country with honor in the United States Navy, I served patients who trusted me to take care of me, I served three presidents in the White House and now I serve the people of Texas” 13th District in Congress. I have not and will never have conducted myself in a way that undermines the sincerity with which I take my oath to my country or to my constituents “, he added.
