The penguin escapes the killer whales by jumping in a boat full of tourists

The scene was “Happy Feet” with “The Great Escape”.

A fast-thinking Gentoo penguin in Antarctica avoided the jaws of several killer whales by jumping into a boat full of tourists.

The Daily Mail reports that the persecution took place in the Gerlache Strait on the continent. The flock of whales chased the poor penguin who, despite not being able to fly, managed to throw himself headlong into the side of a boat full of human spectators.

At first, the penguin hit the side of the boat, failing to maintain its landing and falling back into the waves. But fortunately, the second time was the amulet, because in the next jump the penguin – with a little help from enthusiastic tourists on the boat – managed to embark safely.

“It was crazy to see in person,” travel blogger Matt Karsten told the Daily Mail. “It was like watching an episode of National Geographic on the spot. I imagine that the penguin was very relieved to escape. “

Although the penguin must have really been relieved, tourists must certainly have been a little nervous at the prospect of having a whole flock of orca whales overturn their tiny boat to pick up their refugee penguin.

Fortunately, however, the cocoon came out in peace.

“Orcas have been following the zodiac boat for a while,” continues Karsten. “They gave up in the end, leaving the penguin safe with his new friends.

“After sailing for a while, the penguin said goodbye to the boat and jumped back into the icy water.”

Fortunately, the penguin avoids swimming in the Gerlache Strait to avoid another potential chase from now on.
