The stage 4 group can register for the Dare COVID shot
By Outer Banks Voice on March 9, 2021
The weekly update for COVID-19 released by the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) on March 9 has some encouraging news.
For the eighth consecutive week, the number of COVID-19 cases reported by the county has declined – with 29 cases reported from March 1 to March 7. The percentage of positive tests in all administered tests continues to fall, albeit slowly, decreasing slowly from 7.7% to 7.5% in the past week. Given the small number of reported cases, this percentage – which is considerably higher than the current statewide average of around 5% – suggests a decrease in administered COVID tests. And that is the case. The 385 COVID tests administered in the county last week represent the lowest number in a week since June.
The update also reveals advances in the field of vaccination. In the nine weeks since the county began giving gun injections, he has administered 9,398 first doses of the COVID vaccine and 6,541 second doses. And in the next two weeks, it plans to inject another 3,050 first doses and 1,204 second doses.
As a result, from March 9, DHHS will begin accepting registrations from individuals in Group 4. Group 4 includes anyone aged 18 or over who has one or more high-risk medical conditions and individuals who work directly with the public. Anyone in Groups 1 – 4 can now go to www.darenc.com/covidvaccine to complete the vaccination request form.
Update: DHSS reported five new cases of COVID-19 on March 9.

Observation: Every morning, the NC Department of Health and Human Services updates the number of reported coronavirus cases. This number reflects the positive results of all tests, including the NC State Public Health Laboratory and all hospitals and commercial laboratories. There may be other reports, from the media and elsewhere, that will include different numbers during a given day, but this is an effective way to track numbers from the same source on a daily basis.
