The Oppo Find X3 Pro micro lens lens takes incredible pictures

Oppo announced its flagship smartphone Find X3 Pro earlier this week and focused attention on its two 50-megapixel 10-bit cameras and billions of color curved screens. These are great, but your 3-megapixel “micro-lens” camera could be the real star of the show.

While it doesn’t boast much in terms of resolution, the types of images that the Find X3 microlenses can capture are really unusual, not just from the perspective of smartphones, but from all cameras. While the idea of a 60x zoom microscope camera seems extremely misleading, it can be a trick that you really enjoy using.

Digital trends and PetaPixel Cell phone specialist Andy Boxall tested the Oppo Find X3 this week and published some of the images he took using the microlenses. While he fears that many “camera snobs” immediately turn their nose up at a camera’s low-resolution microscope, he is very excited about what he was able to capture.

While they are obviously not the highest resolution and appear to have a tendency to show significant noise in something less than perfect lighting, the perspective you can get with a 60x microscope zoom is really attractive. From left to right above, Boxall shows how the camera sees the fabric, a card, moss and the phone screen.

Boxall was not the only one who was impressed with this feature. YouTuber Michael Fisher praised the microlensing camera as capable of taking the phone’s camera capabilities into a new realm.

“It’s incredibly fun to relive mundane objects through a“ 60x pocket microscope ”, he writes on twitter. “I love having a new sensor with which to relive the world around me.”

The photos above are not only beautiful, but also extremely difficult to identify because of the unique perspective – trick or not, this is incredible.

PetaPixel’s a full review of the Oppo Find X3 will arrive later this month.
