The OnePlus Health app appears on the Play Store before the launch of the OnePlus Band

After teasers and recent leaks, an app for the wearable fitness OnePlus Band has just been published on the Play Store. Called OnePlus Health, the app shows very typical fitness features, such as mapping, activity tracking, clock face customization and general device management. We can even take a look at some of the watch faces that it can come from. And if it looks familiar, there is a good reason for that.

The app’s description and images show the ability to monitor heart rate, steps, sleep and other daily activities. In addition to mapping things like running paths, you can also monitor your workout duration, distance and calories burned against a daily goal.

The OnePlus Health screenshots also show at least five different clock faces that you will likely be able to configure for the app, from analog to digital styles, in names like Shape, Glow and Firework, although there are probably more. A final screen capture further confirms the name of the OnePlus band, with shortcuts to configuration options for the paired device. As the image description indicates, you can also manage notifications and calls. This is not one of those wearables for exercise only.

If the app looks familiar to you, we are not surprised. It is not just design convergence; these screenshots look basically identical to the sister company OPPO’s HeyTap Health app. This is not the first time that we have seen brothers from the BBK brand share software, and many bits and pieces in ColorOS match the OnePlus software, but it further demonstrates how close the ties are between the two. Teardowns also show what appears to be an OPPO Watch hanging from the application code. Given the similarities between the two apps, and given that Oppo Watch runs Wear OS, this is a strong indicator for me that OnePlus Band will also do so. (Although there were rumors, this has not yet been fully confirmed.)

In case the application list is hidden.

Although the app listing is public and there is a public beta that you can subscribe to, the app itself is listed as incompatible with all devices associated with my account in the U.S., which includes almost all OnePlus phones. However, it may be available in other markets and we can confirm that it is available in India.

Of course, we don’t have the watch to pair with, but here’s what the app looks like in action.

With this Play Store appearance, I would say that the launch of the OnePlus on-off wearable is probably coming. The OnePlus 9 was supposed to land earlier than usual this year, although this app is appearing two months ahead of the expected release date, which is a bit of a fill if the OnePlus band lands next to it.
