The New York Times praised Dr. Anthony Fauci for his apparent veracity after he admitted lying to the public while serving in the Trump administration.
Fauci, who was chosen by President Biden during the transition to become a White House adviser in the new government, was the subject of a flattering article published by the Times on Sunday about his term as President Trump.
“For Dr. Fauci, 80, last year stood out like no other. As the coronavirus ravaged the country, Dr. Fauci’s calm advice and his commitment to the real facts made him dear to millions of Americans,” wrote the Times.

However, critics pointed to a Times report in December on Fauci’s apparent dishonesty about how much herd immunity would be sufficient.
“In the early days of the pandemic, Dr. Fauci tended to quote the same 60 to 70 percent estimate that most experts did.
