The number of Utahns hospitalized with COVID-19 is falling

According to UDOH, the number of coronavirus patients in ICUs has also decreased.

The number of Utahns hospitalized with COVID-19 fell on Tuesday, 11.1% from 396 to 352. The number of patients with intensive care coronavirus fell 8.46%, from 130 to 119.

And nearly a quarter of the ICU beds in Utah are unoccupied.

However, the death toll continued to increase. Twelve deaths were reported on Wednesday; three or those occurred before January 14 and were only confirmed as related to COVID-19.

Vaccinations reported the day before / total vaccinations • 19,722 / 345,179.

Cases reported the previous day • 1,591.

Deaths reported the day before • 12

Hospitalizations reported the previous day • 352. Reduction from 44 compared to Tuesday. Of those currently hospitalized, 119 are in intensive care units – 11 less than on Tuesday.

Tests reported the day before • 9,149.

Percentage of positive tests • 17.39%. This is greater than the 16-day average of 16.6%.

Totals to date • 350,000 cases; 1,697 deaths; 13,648 hospitalizations; 2,044,811 tests.
