The NJ County Vaccination Site dedicates certain days and hours for educators to take COVID-19 injections.

Registration for vaccine appointments reserved for teachers working in Essex County will be available on Friday at 5 pm, county officials said.

Appointments will be scheduled between March 22 and 26 for teachers and school support staff who work in public, private, charter and parish schools in Essex County. The Modern vaccine will be provided to them at Kmart in West Orange from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on those dates.

“Vaccination of teachers and school support staff is the best way to reopen our schools and restore personal education for our children,” said Essex County executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. “We are pleased to offer these special times and convenient for the school team to receive their vaccines. “

A special button will be created at www.EssexCOVID.org for teachers and support staff to click to schedule an appointment. The appointments will be added to the website on Friday afternoon.

Teachers and support staff will be required to bring their school district ID card or badge with them. If they are unable to present an identity card or badge, they will not receive the vaccine, county officials said.

Vaccination will only be given to those by appointment and traveling visits will not be accommodated. Additional appointment times for teachers will be added the following week, if necessary, DiVincenzo said.

The county has five vaccination sites available to eligible residents. The city of Newark also started vaccinating its teachers before the public schools reopened on April 12.
