On March 27, 2011, Nintendo launched the 3DS, its portable successor to the super-hit Nintendo DS. Since then, it has sold more 70 million units around the world and has had a number of great games released for him in the past decade.

I was lucky to get a 3DS at the time it was released. Although the scarcity of consoles was one thing in 2011, it was nothing like today. Here’s what I mean: My dad and I drove to a store, maybe Walmart, on a whim, about a week after the launch of 3DS. We didn’t check online or call ahead. And when we get there, we find four or five 3DS consoles behind plexiglass, waiting to be purchased. Can you imagine that today? I don’t see myself enter a store a week or even a month after launching a big console and only find a few in 2021.

As soon as I got 3D, I played a lot Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D because i am a big idiot and i love resident Evil games. I was also excited play Revelations. The other memory I have of the 3DS at launch was playing with AR cards and games. Not for more than a few days, but they were fun and a cool thing to show people.

The 3DS is the last Nintendo console I bought at launch. (Although if this 4k Switch turns out to be not very expensive, I can buy a Nintendo console on the first day again. We will see..) While far from being my favorite console, i still fondly remember the time i spent with it. I even liked the 3D features. I left this slider on because it looked cool.

What memories do you have of the Nintendo 3DS? And who else out there threw that Revelations demonstration in The Mercs 3D well more than once?
