The next day – Engadget

Congratulations to all Best of the CES 2021 winners, including our Best of the Best winner, AMD’s Ryzen 5000 mobile CPUs. Is a chipset strange to the best next-generation TVs, robots and futuristic transport ads? You might think so, but AMD’s claims, which suggest huge performance improvements per watt over last year’s 4000 series, were impressive.

Best of CES

AMD still has a long way to go if it wants to snatch Intel’s Windows notebook market, but it’s doing it right. Intel, as CES continued, also announced a new CEO, Pat Gelsinger of VMWare. What are you going to do next?

We are already leaving CES, however, as Samsung’s big Unpacked event starts today at 10am ET / 7am PT. Expect to see the new Galaxy S21 family and possibly some updated Galaxy buttons. I hope you’re ready for the first flagship smartphones of 2021.

He said the company made the right choice, even if it sets a “dangerous” precedent.

@realdonaldtrump

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey made his first public statement since the social network banned Donald Trump permanently. Dorsey said he believed that Twitter made the right decision, but that “a ban is our failure to promote healthy conversation.” Twitter has spent much of the past two years struggling to make its platform “healthier”.

Dorsey repeated Twitter’s previous statements about the reason for the ban, writing that “the offline damage resulting from online speech is proven to be real and what drives our policy and enforcement above all.”

It’s the first Star Wars game in years that EA hasn’t made.

Star Wars / Ubisoft

Once the Lucasfilm Games brand is resurrected, it’s time to get it up and running in a Star Wars game – with some help. Massive Entertainment from Ubisoft, the team behind Division 2, is developing an open world Star Wars game. This marks the end of EA’s exclusive rights to make Star Wars titles, which has been a bumpy journey.

Hopefully, Ubisoft will go easy on repetitive search missions. It is still early for the game, but expect to hear more in 2021.

Avita Admiror II also has a ‘light ring’ around the screen.

Avita Admiror II

One of the last devices we saw at CES this year was the Avita Admiror II, a Chinese laptop aimed directly at the reality of work conference calls in 2021. It has three webcams, each with a different zoom level and an intriguing ring of light frame around the screen to provide “consistent and softly diffused lighting”.

Unfortunately, that’s all we have in terms of specifications; there is no word on the CPU, GPU, screen resolution or even webcam resolution. (Not to mention the price or release date.) You may not have heard of Nexstgo by now, but you’ve probably already found VAIO. The first has been licensed from VAIO in Asia since mid-June 2018, after Sony sold the brand.

The first of the two main patches for the game will arrive in the next 10 days.

Cyberpunk 2077

Patch # 1, as the studio started calling it, is the first of two updates that will solve the game’s problems on next-generation consoles, and is scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks. Patch # 2, which is a major and more significant update, will come in February.

About how we got here with Cyberpunk 2077CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwiński tried to offer an explanation and an apology. According to him, the problems of the game, mainly on the console, result mainly from the technology – designed for PCs – used to transmit the game world while you play, and were not apparent while the developers were testing its various iterations.

In addition to the fixes, the DLC should start arriving after that; however, next-generation native updates for PS5 and Xbox Series X / S are projected for the second half of this year.
