METAIRIE, Louisiana – The New Orleans Saints has agreed to a two-year contract with the highlight of special teams and backup security JT Gray, a source confirmed.
Gray, who was named the second All Pro team in 2019, was scheduled to be a restricted free agent after originally signing as a non-summoned free agent outside the state of Mississippi in 2018. The news of his deal was first reported by the NFL Network.
Saints’ special team units have been a big part of their success during the current series of four consecutive NFC South titles. But many of the players on their top special teams are unrestricted free agents this year, including Craig Robertson, Justin Hardee and Dwayne Washington.
The Saints will be severely restricted by lowering the NFL’s salary cap this year. They will need to achieve a projected space limit of $ 60-70 million over the next two weeks through player launches, contract restructuring and extensions, among other paths.
