In January, we reported that Google’s new generation of smart monitors could feature a sleep tracking feature thanks to an integrated Soli sensor. Unfortunately, we didn’t know much more about the device, but we expected it to be released this year. Thanks to new information, we now have more clues about the future design of the Nest Hub.
According to 9to5Google, the next Nest Hub would retain the original Home Hub design, including color schemes, with the Aqua tone being replaced by a light blue version, aligning them with Nest Audio.
Similar to the evolution from Home Mini to Nest Mini, the new generation of Nest Hub would be similar to the original device, but would come with enhanced audio and a third microphone instead of two on the Home Hub. Most importantly, the new smart display would now feature a Soli radar, which would be used for sleep tracking and motion detection, even in the dark.
The sensor data would be sent to Google Fit and automatically displayed on the home screen, thanks to a feature recently added to existing smart monitors. The new Nest Hub is expected to launch in the coming weeks at the same price as the existing model.
