The new Deathloop trailer finally explains Deathloop

Deathloop is one of the most confusing games coming to PlayStation 5 this year. It is similar to another series of games from developer Arkane Studios, Dishonored, but DeathloopThe marketing structure can be a little difficult to understand. Fortunately, Arkane Lyon’s game director Dinga Bakaba explains everything in a new trailer, appropriately titled “Deathloop explained. ”

Bakaba starts by explaining Deathloop like “a murder puzzle where you play a murderer caught in a time loop.” To illustrate his point of view, the trailer uses a time loop joke for the rest of the trailer, with Bakaba appearing in various outfits, with a series of props and explaining different things as he walked to the set.

Deathloop is essentially groundhog day, Bill Murray’s classic, but with murder. Players wake up on an island called Black Reef every day. All characters and NPCs repeat their actions daily, and it’s up to the player to kill multiple targets in the most efficient way possible, before the day is over. When the day is over, the time loop begins again and everyone comes back to life.

For those who are familiar, this may sound like the anxiety-inducing time mechanics of The legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. different Majora, Deathloop it is not in such a difficult time. Players are free to approach different scenarios and eliminate eight targets without worrying about a real timer (it is currently unclear how time passes in the game).

Deathloop features an arsenal of weapons and cosmic powers that should look familiar to Dishonored fans. Players can update them during their Deathloop travel, and updates remain intact when the time loop resumes. Most importantly, players gain insight into the movements of each target each time they play, which will help them plan the next day and the desired death order.

Deathloop has a twist, which appeared strongly in its original ad. Juliana is a rival killer and will hunt you down while you play. If players choose the multiplayer mode, an opposing player can invade their world like Juliana, making the cat and mouse game a little more stressful.

This trailer arrives a few days later Deathloopfrom the “Deja Vu” trailer for Sony’s latest State of Play, and does a much better job detailing how the game really works.

Deathloop will come exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC on May 21st. It will not come to other platforms until at least May 2022.
