‘The Muppets’ received a disclaimer from Disney content

Even Muppets are “offensive” today.

Anyone who broadcasts “The Muppet Show” on Disney + will see a reciter first – warning of “offensive content”.

Disney launched five seasons of the iconic streaming program on Friday, allowing viewers to watch Kermit, the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and their famous guests as part of their $ 6.99 a month service.

The disclaimer shown before each episode warns viewers that the program features “stereotypes” and “mistreatment of people or cultures”.

“This program includes negative representations and / or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong at the time and are wrong now ”, states the warning.

“Instead of removing this content, we want to recognize its harmful impact, learn from it and start conversations to create a more inclusive future together”, legal notice says.

“Disney is committed to creating stories with inspiring and ambitious themes that reflect the rich diversity of human experience around the world,” adds the statement.

It is not said exactly what Disney considers offensive in the program, but some characters portray Native Americans, Middle East and Asian people.

And in season five, legendary country singer Johnny Cash is seen performing in front of a Confederate flag.

The warning will also appear before some iconic films, including “Aristocats”, “Dumbo”, “Peter Pan” and “Swiss Family Robinson”.
