‘The Muppets’ contains offensive material, declares a Disney + Disclaimer – Deadline

“This program includes negative representations and / or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong at the time and are wrong now ”, states the warning. “Instead of removing this content, we want to recognize its harmful impact, learn from it and start conversations to create a more inclusive future together”, legal notice says.

“Disney is committed to creating stories with inspiring and ambitious themes that reflect the rich diversity of human experience around the world,” concludes the statement.

Muppets have already been celebrated for their representations of Native Americans, Middle East and Asians.

But there are some moments that have not survived the change in attitude since they aired. For example, country singer Johnny Cash is seen performing in front of a Confederate flag in one episode. This former staple of the southern country is now banned, as seen by singer Luke Combs’ recent apology for his previous use of it.
