The South Korean leaderboard lists the SNK and Capcom crossing
An interesting game rating seems to have appeared on the South Korean leaderboard (GRAC) that can speak of a classic crossover coming to Nintendo Switch.
A rating for “Ultimate Fighters SNK VS. CAPCOM (NS)” was found on the Games Rating and Registration Committee website and appears to have been registered earlier this month. As NintendoLife reports, the title appears to be SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium and it looks like it’s headed for Nintendo’s console / handheld hybrid.
SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium was originally released in late 1999 on the NeoGeo Pocket Color portable system. Players can choose from 26 different fighters, with representatives from both Capcom IPs and, of course, SNKs, being included.
This crossover allowed 1v1 solo combat, tag of two people or teams of three characters (similar to the King of Fighters). The visuals opted for a more chibi style, with characters like Ryu, Chun-Li and Terry looking similar to the sprites found in other NeoGeo Pocket Color titles.
The GRAC rating specifies that this game is a “Nintendo Switch fighting game with SNK and CAPCOM characters” (according to Google Translate). SNK vs. Capcom boasts an “Everyone under 12” rating here, with “minor violent expression” being cited as the reason for his rating.
With this list appearing on the South Korean leaderboard, it is likely that the title will soon be launched on that region’s platform. Although there is no confirmation that SNK vs. Capcom on Switch will be launched in North America, this activity serves as an indicator that an eventual launch in the United States may happen.
Several NeoGeo Pocket Color games have found a home on the Nintendo Switch recently, in April 2020 we saw SNK Gals’ Fighters released on the console as part of the NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection library. In August 2020, The King of Fighters R-2 and Samurai Shodown! 2 were added to that library, with each title available digitally for $ 7.99.
Considering the fact that several of the handheld games saw the Nintendo Switch launch last year, it is certainly plausible that SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium will follow suit as the next NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection title.
SNK has been actively revealing content here in 2021, as King of Fighters 15 has been officially revealed to the world and has seen consistent trailers every week for the past three weeks or more. It is possible that an official announcement for SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium is falling alongside one of the upcoming showcases.
