The men’s basketball class tops the SEC ranking

The South Carolina men’s basketball team currently has the SEC’s first recruiting class.

It is the 15th best in the country.

Neither engagement, the three-star gunner Devin Carter (Miami, Florida) and the three-star combo gun Jacobi Wright (Fort Mill, SC) are ranked among the top 100 potential customers in the 2021 class.

Carter, who ranks 175th overall, is 37th in his position. Wright checks in at 217 overall and 25 among the combination guards.

Together, they have an average player rating of 0.8901, which is higher than the average for any other class since Frank Martin was hired in South Carolina. If the number remains or rises above that level, it will be the player’s highest average rating for a Gamecocks class since 2011.

Four star center John Butler, who attends Christ Church in Greenville, SC, remains on target for South Carolina.

Butler (7-0, 190) is the number 57 prospect in the country. He is 12th among all centers and has a player rating of 0.9761.

If he is added to the Gamecock class, he will increase the projected team’s score to 50.93 points. This would currently give them the 5th recruiting class in the country.

South Carolina would also have an average player rating of 91.88 with Butler on board.

Obviously, it is still very early in the 2021 cycle. A class of three men with a team score just below 51 will not last long in the top 10.

In the 2020 cycle, teams needed at least 60 points to finish with one of the first 17 classes. One with 50.93 points would have finished 45th in the country and 11th in the SEC. The average rating of the player would be the 10th among the teams in the league.
