The Marvel Avengers – Lack of updates explained by the studio in an interview

Crystal Dynamics studio boss Scot Amos explains the lack of updates for Marvel’s Avengers in the interview and says the delays were for good reason.

In a recent interview, Marvel Avengers game developer Crystal Dynamics explains the lack of game updates. Marvel Avengers had a mediocre release in September 2020 and many players expected a plethora of updates and new features to remedy the basic game. Instead, Crystal Dynamics seemed to completely stop dealing with future updates, releasing patches and fixes for the post-launch of the game. One patch even fixed more than a thousand bugs. But another patch increased the time needed to level up the characters, which actually did Marvel Avengers worse, making it much more difficult to level up beyond level 25 to correct the pace problems of the game. However, Crystal Dynamics has recently opened up about its development decisions and the lack of new post-launch content.

In a content roadmap launched by Crystal Dynamics, many new features will finally arrive at Marvel Avengers, some that have kept fans eager since the game’s release. The PlayStation 5 version of the game has just been released, reducing load times and adding a performance and quality mode to your visuals. On the roadmap, a Black Panther DLC is expected to arrive in the summer, along with many new updates that bring content instead of fixes. A disappointing aspect of the script is that Spider-Man doesn’t seem to arrive anytime soon, but Crystal Dynamics claims that the titular Marvel character is in development and will be added to the Marvel Avengers, but not yet. The explanation given by Crystal Dynamics seems to answer questions from fans about the delays in the update.

Amos explains that in the early post-launch stages of the game, the team dedicated to developing new content in the game was instructed to work on patches that would correct the game’s problems. In the interview, Amos admits that the launch of the Marvel Avengers it was imperfect, and the development team’s goal was to remedy that fact by listening to fans and the media to improve the game.

While fans may disagree, Crystal Dynamics wanted to establish more solid ground before continuing to develop and add new content for Marvel Avengers. The delay was deliberate and, although it would have been nice to receive the launch of the next generation of Marvel Avengers before, Amos and the team should have had a point in making sure the game was in a better state before focusing on expansion. Now, after patches that fixed many of the game’s problems, Crystal Dynamics is adding new content to the game, hopefully as planned. If they follow the established content roadmap, fans will receive exciting updates.

Hopefully, there will be no more delays in the flow of new content added by Crystal Dynamics. On a No Man Sky-esc fashion, Amos seeks to improve the game that was initially launched. With promises of future MCU cosmetics coming to Marvel’s Avengers and the recent news, it’s definitely a trend for Marvel fans. Amos wants to keep current players engaged, bring back many fans who have already left and attract the attention of new fans who haven’t yet. Marvel Avengers one try.
