The March 10 Windows update appears to cause a deadly blue screen while printing

The March update of Windows 10 (Windows 10 KB5000802) appears to be causing the blue screen of death for some users. A Reddit topic and a Windows Latest report share several stories of people who have had problems since installing the latest Windows 10 update. The problem seems to occur when trying to print something, although it may only affect some printing situations.

“This update appears to be causing blue screens when printing to Kyocera universal print drivers. I have had at least 20 confirmed cases from 4 different customers and it has only been an hour a day,” one person told Windows Latest.

The post on Reddit and the subsequent topic also mention Kyocera printers. According to the post on Reddit, the update to a newer Kyocera driver did not work.

In addition to reports of problems involving Kyocera printers, people saw the blue screen of death when using Ricoh, Zebra and other types of printers.

As is the case with many problems with Windows 10, we do not yet know the extent of this problem.

When the problem occurs, it can be done through a simple day-to-day task, printing anything. People have faced the problem when trying to print from Notepad, Office and other applications. PCs do not appear to see the blue screen of death unless they are trying to print to one of the affected printers.

Many people on the Reddit thread worked around the problem by uninstalling the Windows 10 KB5000802 update. This may resolve this specific issue, but this update also includes several important fixes and security updates. Hopefully, Microsoft can get to the bottom of the problem quickly to remedy the situation.
