A man who was photographed holding a Confederate battle flag inside the U.S. Capitol last week during the rebellion was arrested Thursday in Delaware, two police officers said. The man, Kevin Seefried, was wanted by the FBI, which had sought help from the public to identify him and had widely dispatched a dispatch filled with images his.
In a newsletter, the agency said it was seeking assistance in identifying individuals “who made illegal entry” to the Capitol, including the man with the Confederacy flag, now identified by The New York Times as Mr. Seefried.
The FBI received more than 126,000 photo and video tips earlier this week, while agents also cleared airline passenger records and videos of travelers to and from Washington to find possible suspects. The top federal prosecutor in Washington said this week that he expected the number of people accused of riot-related crimes on Capitol Hill to increase to hundreds.
On Wednesday, federal agents made more arrests in New York, Maryland, Texas and Florida, including a fireman from the city of Sanford, near Orlando.
