The long-term sales forecast for Cyberpunk 2077 looks bleak, says analyst

Cyberpunk 2077 it has already recovered its development costs and made a profit for CD Projekt RED, but its long-term performance remains a question mark. The title was removed from PlayStation Store three months ago and there is still no ETA for its return. What is more, Cyberpunk 2077The Steam player base has seen a significant decline – far from The Witcher III: Wild Huntperformance of on the platform. Now research and analysis firm M Science has teamed up with several other analysts to report that the game’s long-term sales projections look bleak.

“We saw a significant slowdown in the pace of sales of digital Cyberpunk 2077 in our data, ”senior analyst Corey Barrett told The Gamer via email. “We believe that the company could sell just 500,000 digital units in the March quarter. This is based on the magnitude of the slowdown that we have seen, taking into account some of the comments the company has provided about initial post-launch sales. ”

Barrett acknowledged that Cyberpunk 2077The exclusion of the company’s PSN has a role to play here. However, “incremental sales appear to be declining on other platforms where the title also remains listed”.

Comparing Cyberpunk 2077for other heavyweights, Barrett noted that the natural decline in sales in terms of new digital units is much greater for the CD Projekt RED title compared to, say, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

That said, Barrett thinks CD Projekt RED can change things by launching Cyberpunk 2077 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and with the goal of expanding its adoption on new platforms.
