The list of top 25 finishers of the Wooden Award midseason features Caitlin Clark from Iowa, 3 stars from UConn

Iowa’s Caitlin Clark joined UConn’s freshman Paige Bueckers on the list of the 25 best Wooden Award for women’s college basketball that was released Wednesday.

The pre-season roster of 30, which Bueckers was also on, had seven players removed, while Clark and Haley Jones, a Stanford sophomore, were new to the list.

Clark is among the top 10 in the country in scoring (26.4 PPG) and assists (6.5 APG) for the 7-1 Hawkeyes. Jones leads Cardinal No. 1 in scoring (14.9 PPG) and rebounds (9.8 RPG).

Bueckers leads the Huskies (6-0) in scoring (18.2 PPG), assists (5.2 APG) and steals (2.7 SPG). No. 4 UConn has three players on the wooden list, most from any team, like juniors Christyn Williams and Olivia Nelson-Ododa join Bueckers.

The Huskies travel to No. 6 Baylor for one of their biggest tests this season on Thursday (ESPN, 8:30 pm Eastern time). The Lady Bears are led by Junior NaLyssa Smith, who is on Wooden’s list.

Three programs have two participants on the list: Stanford (Jones and Kiana Williams), 5th in South Carolina (Aliyah Boston and Zia Cooke) and 13th Arkansas (Chelsea Dungee and Destiny Slocum).

The SEC leads all conferences with nine on the midseason list, including Kentucky junior Rhyne Howard, who was ESPN.com’s preseason player of the year. The Big Ten and Pac-12 have four players each on the list.

Texas’ Charli Collier, a junior eligible for the draft designed as the No. 1 choice in the ESPN.com WNBA simulated draft in December, is one of three Big 12 on the list.
