The linebacker transferred to South Carolina

The South Carolina Gamecocks received another transfer on Thursday.

Delaware Linebacker Darryl Williams announced its commitment to South Carolina, joining the defensive defense of South Georgia David Spaulding as the second appointment of the day.

Williams, a three-star recruit in the 2020 class, was the country’s internal linebacker in 113th place, according to 247Sports Composite. He was the No. 1 potential customer in the state of Delaware.

As a veteran at Smyrna High School, he had 153 tackles, 29 loss tackles and seven sacks. Over 40 games during his high school career, he had 395 tackles, 62 loss tackles and 16 sacks.

In this interview with Matt Kennedy from myfrontpagestory.com., Smyrna High School coach Mike Judy said Williams’ nickname, ‘Debo’, is an accurate description, at least as a player.

“Darryl is a special athlete, a special young man,” said Judy. “He is very mature. He is a mature football player and is a real hammer that plays inside. He has tremendous hip pop. He seeks to punish people.

“I’ve been training soccer for more than 15 years. He’s among the 2-3 best kids in terms of hitting strength that I’ve ever seen. He has a world of great football ahead of him. He has been a great leader at a young age and a great teammate. “

At one of The Opening’s 2019 regional charts, Williams ran 4.87 in the 40-yard run. He posted a transport time of 4.38 and jumped more than 34 inches vertically.

Williams was just over 6 feet tall and weighed 210 pounds. He is listed at 6 feet on the Delaware list, but his weight is not included.

Leaving high school, Williams received offers from Coastal Carolina, Elon, Kent State, UMass and Old Dominion. No Power 5 schools were offered, although he received interest from several schools in the region, including Maryland and West Virginia.

South Carolina now lists three transfer commitments. Wide receiver Georgia Tech Ahmarean Brown was the first to wait on board.
