The launch date for the new airship map between us has been revealed

Among usThe new map, The Airship, will be released on March 31, developer InnerSloth announced on Thursday. The new map was originally unveiled in December and will arrive as part of a free update that adds stairs, a basic account system for moderation and the “ability to choose the room in which you start,” said the developer.

Of course, there are also some new hats. Among us released in 2018 with a single map, with two other maps added over the years, making Airship the fourth playable map in the game.

The game, however, totally exploded in 2020 – and success caught the developer off guard, he said in his last update.

“I explained this a little bit in our last development log, but Among us’ popularity was something that no one expected, and at the end of 2020 too, ”wrote the developer in the update. “We had already considered the game ready and changed to something else.”

And so the creation of the new map took time – which is normal in the development of the game – as the team started to work again on Among us, while dealing with the game’s newly discovered massive popularity. In Thursday’s update, InnerSloth went over the details of the challenges that arose during Among us‘huge year, including maintenance, hiring and a lot of meetings.

“Furthermore, creating a map and updates is not as simple as creating an aspect of the game and playing it on the PC. Because our game is multiplatform, it means that EVERYTHING needs to work on as many devices as possible, ”said InnerSloth. “You may have noticed that most modifications to the game focus only on the PC, as this makes development much easier.”

It is clear, however, that fans are excited to see new content on Among us, even years in the game’s lifespan. In minutes, the tweet that announced the map’s release date has accumulated thousands of retweets, comments and likes. The game’s biggest success during the pandemic certainly has something to do with it – last year, of all reproduced Among us, even politicians.
