People with small hands have been clamoring for a smaller smartphone for years, and by 2020 Apple finally delivered with the iPhone 12 Mini. Except it looks like Apple could stop making its minors phone due to less than stellar sales.

JP Morgan supply chain analyst William Yang reportedly cut production expectations for the iPhone 12 Mini by 11 million units, AppleInsider reported. Yang also said that Apple may even stop production entirely in the second quarter of this year. Yang also revised his expectations for the standard iPhone 12 by 9 million units, while adjusting the numbers for the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max by 2 million and 11 million units, respectively. The iPhone 11, surprisingly, also gained momentum; Yang adjusted his expectations for the 2019 flagship by 8 million units.

This seems to corroborate recent reports that there is no high demand for the iPhone 12 Mini. In early January, Consumer Intelligence Research Partners launched a report which said sales of the iPhone 12 Mini accounted for only 6% of total iPhone sales in October and November. It is true that the 12 Mini only went on sale in November, but also the 12 Pro Max, which accounted for about 20% of sales of the new iPhone in the same period. Another recent Nikkei Asia supply chain report noticed that while the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max were exceeding expectations and the iPhone 12 was meeting, the 12 Mini was “slow”.

have abundance of reasons why this might be. To start, there is the iPhone SE. Although the SE is slightly larger than the 12 Mini, it is also on the smaller side for a phone and ant $ 400, it’s also a lot cheaper than the $ 700 Mini. Another problem is the battery. Its tiny size means it’s only packing one 2,227 mAh battery, while the iPhone 12 uses a 2,815 mAh battery and the 12 Pro Max has a 3,687 mAh battery. In Gizmodo’s review of the iPhone 12 Mini, the size was right, but the abysmal battery life was definitely our biggest pain point.

TThe 12 Mini may not be selling well, but this does not necessarily mean an eternal disgrace for fans of more compact iPhones. Tit rumors of iPhone 13 running so far I strongly suggest that Apple will stick with the four model lineup this year. If the Mini line continues, it is possible that Apple will find a way to stick a bigger battery or optimize the software so that small phone fans can have the iPhone experience they want without sacrificing battery life. Other than that, there is always the iPhone SE and any potential future updates for that line. So ddespite this news, there are still hope, my tiny hand friends.
