New Year’s Day 2021 has its pros and cons for fans of The office.

On the one hand, the beloved NBC sitcom has finally made the dreaded transition from Netflix to Peacock – leaving many subscribers motivated by Dunder Mifflin struggling to join the new streaming service. (Yes, you can watch seasons 1 and 2 of The office on Peacock for free, but seasons 3 through 9 will cost $ 4.99 a month with ads or $ 9.99 a month without ads.)

On the other hand, Peacock is welcoming The office and its fan base with tons of extra content – including a never-before-seen cold opening filmed for the end of the series.

In the nearly five-minute clip (available below), Jim and Pam go to the extreme to convince Dwight that he is living in an extension of the real world of Matrix trilogy. There are scary guys in suits, some cryptic computer messages, a well-trained cat and the late Hugh Dane as Hank, the security guard, making his best impression of Laurence Fishburne. Check out:

For more unseen footage, Peacock subscribers can watch The office: Superfan episodes – extended The office cuts that will be launched at Peacock in the coming months. (At the moment, only season 3 is complete, but more Superfan episodes are expected in March.)

In addition, Peacock has The office bloopers, featurettes, interviews with the cast and crew, collections of curated episodes based on themes, playlists of the best clips in the series, a channel of ambient noise to make your work at home feel more like an office, and this is the first desktop style website full of Easter eggs. Oh yes, Meredith and Oscar blew up some gelatin to celebrate 2021. Of course, we miss the ease of having The office on Netflix, but all that extra content? This is not shit.

The office is now broadcasting on Peacock.
