The Houston hospital system is offering its employees a $ 500 bonus if they receive the Covid-19 vaccine

Houston Methodist employees are eligible for a “Hope Bonus” in March to thank them for their work last year, wrote Marc Boom, president and CEO of Houston Methodist, in an email to the team last week.

“The eligibility criteria will include the vaccination COVID-19, fulfilling our obligation as health professionals to lead the community,” wrote Boom.

Boom noted that the Covid-19 vaccine is not mandatory for employees now, but it will be eventually.

“This bonus is a thank you for your perseverance over a difficult 2020, as well as something to look forward to, providing hope, during the coming challenging months,” wrote Boom.

The hospital system began administering the vaccine to employees on December 15.

“About 55% of the Houston Methodist’s 26,000 employees received at least the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine and thousands more scheduled,” a hospital spokesman told CNN.

Houston Methodist employees also received a $ 500 bonus in November to thank them for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.
