The Health District cites the backlog of case reports as more positive tests for COVID-19 in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Spokane County continues to grow.

Another 362 people tested positive for the virus in Spokane on Saturday, according to the latest update from the Spokane Regional Health District.

According to a chart on the health district’s website, which analyzes new cases daily, 671 additional people tested positive for COVID-19 the day before.

This peak is probably due to an accumulation of case reports. The SRHD says that an error in the electronic report caused a delay in the report of around 300 results dating back to December 2.

A portion of that accumulation was 200 cases that were linked to the Airway Heights Correction Center, said the SRHD.

“In addition to the accumulated cases, the current data peak indicates that SRHD continues to see increases in cases linked to the spread of the community, which in turn is infiltrating congregated environments, such as long-term care facilities, despite mitigation efforts. ”, He says in a health district release.
