Is Doctor Strange a magician?
In a new clip released by Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) argues that there is no such thing as a wizard, and Doctor Strange is a ‘sorcerer’, tyvm. Meanwhile, Sam Wilson (Falcon) replies that “a wizard is a wizard without a hat”. Think about it!
Speaking of wizards and Gandalf, how an old man like Bucky knows these things. Well, that’s because he read The Hobbit in 1937, when it was released, obviously. But that’s beyond the point – Sam doesn’t have time to play with Bucky. He is out to determine the level of threat they are facing, and by all accounts, it has to be one of the Big Three – Android, Alien and Wizard. So stop staring, Bucky!
In a second clip, also released today, Bucky manages to join Sam on the mission in question, but wants to know his game plan, and here we learn two things.
1. Sam Wilson has a plan
2. Only Steve Rogers can call Bucky ‘Buck’ because he has known him the longest.
One thing is for sure, expect a lot more pranks between Sam and Bucky in the new original Disney + series, which opens in exactly one week, on Friday, March 19.
Anthony Mackie and Sebastian stan, who play Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier), respectively, spoke with New York Times about how the series addresses the timely premise of existing in a world that is still recovering from a global catastrophe.
“I am entering with the assumption that the next captain America movie is going to be me, ”Mackie, reminding the NYT, about what he thought of when he got the call about the project.
Describing the series, Stan reports: “Let’s explore where these two guys left off, with one big character missing – the prominent figure who brought them into each other’s lives. Where are they and how are they dealing with the world? “
The six-episode series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will offer “timely explorations on the nature of patriotism and extremism and the values of inclusion, diversity and representation, set in a world that struggles for stability after a global catastrophe.”
On how the Marvel cinematic universe will balance the stories that tell in theaters and Disney +, the president of Marvel Studios and Marvel’s creative director Kevin Feige explains, “As far as Marvel Studios is concerned, the MCU now lives in movies and shows. We really wanted people to get used to the idea that it would come and go. The story will be consistent and equally important in both places. “
Speaking of the scene where an older Steve Rogers delivers Sam Wilson in the final moments of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, Mackie reveals that at that moment “it wasn’t an opportunity – it was a big burden. “
“It was not a [Sam] sit and wait for the shield ”, Mackie continues with the NYT. “He wasn’t looking for a promotion at work.”
Main series writer Malcolm Spellman explains his approach to the series and how it addresses real-world topics, “” If you want some honesty with them, you can’t avoid all the trauma that Bucky went through, and you can’t avoid the fact that Sam is black. “
The creative team behind the series revealed to the NYT what The Falcon and the Winter Soldier “I would face the same questions that the country has been asking itself in the last turbulent months: who is the American and who decides what principles the country defends? What forces people to take extreme actions in the name of what they believe is patriotism?”
