The rebellion begins on April 28.
That’s when the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale debut on Hulu and June (Elisabeth Moss) is now fighting a war against Gilead after his escape. The trailer promises an intense war ahead, and the season’s description indicates that the June fight becomes extremely personal.
“June counters Gilead as a fierce rebel leader, but the risks she takes bring new unexpected and dangerous challenges,” says the Hulu logline. “Her search for justice and revenge threatens to consume her and destroy her most cherished relationships.”
On a virtual panel at the TV Critics Association on Thursday, Moss teased both June and villain Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) seek power “in very different ways and with different goals”. The season will explore what “real power” means, depending on who owns it.
Showrunner Bruce Miller explained that Lydia is “obsessed” with June and, although these two women are enemies, they are also “inextricably linked”, and this is happening this season.
