Peter Farrelly, whose Green Book film won the Oscar for best film two years ago, is directing the project.
Negotiations are underway to get Apple Studios to support the new film and for Bill Murray to take the supporting role, Deadline reports.

The book recounts the experiences of John ‘Chick’ Donohue, who went on a crazy mission to Vietnam during the war to give beer and moral support to American troops.
Donohue co-wrote the memoir with reporter JT Molloy and he became a New York Times bestseller after its release last year.
The idea of the beer race came about when Chick, himself a former Marine, was having a drink in his Inwood neighborhood, Manhattan, and talking to bartender George Lynch.
When the anti-war movement peaked, George and Chick decided that the troops would need a reminder of their love for them at home.

‘Someone should go to’ Nam, locate the boys in the neighborhood and bring a beer for each one! said George – and Chick accepted the challenge.
He traveled back to Vietnam – where he had previously been a merchant seaman – and brought beers and messages from home to Inwood’s boys who were fighting abroad.
When he returned to Inwood and entered the bar where it all started, George Lynch shouted with joy: ‘He’s here! He is alive!’ Chick told Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Peter Farrelly worked on the script with one of his Green Book co-writers, Brian Currie, and also with one of his Hall Pass co-writers, Pete Jones.

He achieved fame with his brother Bobby Farrelly doing comedies like Dumb And Dumber, There Something About Mary and Stuck On You.
However, Peter pivoted in the territory of prize baits with the 2018 drama Green Book, starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen.
Mahershala played a black gay pianist who played Jim Crow South traveling with a New York security guard played by Viggo in what was based on a true story.
