Deshaun Watson reportedly placed an order for a replacement for the Houston Texans this week and if the team honors him, he is sure to receive a large exchange package, possibly larger than what the Dallas Cowboys achieved for Herschel Walker in 1989.
Former NFL defender Dan Orlovsky, an ESPN analyst, suggested that the New York Giants should chase the Texas star. But the commercial package he launched didn’t exactly get a round of applause.
“If I were Dave Gettleman of the New York Giants, I would choose Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley and three choices in the first round, and I would call Houston and not let them hang up,” Orlovsky said in “Stand up.”

“As a general manager right now, if you were going to take a hit, this is the hit to take. As a general manager, the last thing you want is to look back with regret that we haven’t tried too hard. It’s enough. That we haven’t launched one extra game in the first round. This is the type of player and person that you will get with Deshaun Watson. “
Watson has been an important player since joining the league in 2017.
In 2020, even while Houston was trading important players around him, he still managed to lead the NFL with 4,823 passing yards. He added 33 touchdown passes as well. But Houston was 4-12 and without a choice in the first round.
Jones and Barkley did not reach their full potential.
TEXANS HIRE DAVID CULLEY AS NEXT CHIEF COACH
In 27 career games so far, Jones has 5,970 passing yards and 35 touchdown passes. There still seems to be a need for development for him. New York could also use a # 1 wide receiver and has not had one since the Odell Beckham Jr. deal.
Barkley is the most electrifying player the Giants have had in a long time. But his injuries are piling up. He played only two games in 2020, ending the year with a torn ACL in week 2. He was the Rookie of the year 2018 after registering 1,307 running yards and 11 touchdowns in 16 games.
It is unclear how hard the Texans will go to grant Watson a change. The quarterback has a no-deal clause and signed a lucrative contract extension before the start of the season.
New Texans coach David Culley said on Friday that he accepted the position knowing that Watson was the quarterback.

“He’s the quarterback for the Houston Texans, and that’s all I care about,” he told reporters via ESPN.
“All I know is this … He’s a Houston Texan. And I wanted to be a Houston Texan. And the reason I’m in this position today is because I knew he was going to be a Houston Texan. The external things that were being said is irrelevant to me. “
