Regardless of who the New England Patriots’ quarterback in 2021 is, they will need some shiny new weapons.
An intriguing wide receiver hit the market on Wednesday as the New York Giants allegedly released Golden Tate. In doing so, the Giants released $ 6.2 million in limit space.
Curran: Pats will face a risky proposition if they write a QB in advance
Tate, 32, has spent his last two seasons with the Giants after stints at the Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles. In 2020, he recorded 35 receptions for 388 yards and two touchdowns.
Although he has struggled to stay on the pitch for the past few years, Tate can bring experience and a proven track record to the Patriots’ reception corps. The veteran’s best days are probably way behind him, as his only Pro Bowl season came in 2014.
If the Patriots showed an interest in Tate, it wouldn’t be the first time. They also connected in 2019, when Tate said he would “love” to end up in New England.
Joining Tate as possible free agent options are extremists Kyle Rudolph and Jared Cook, who were recently released.
