Even though Samsung has lowered its shipping expectations for the Galaxy S21 series, the new flagship was found to be hugely successful during the pre-order period, not only in South Korea, but also in the UK.
According to Samsung UK, the Galaxy S21 series outperformed the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S20 series in terms of pre-sales. Samsung UK did not reveal exactly how many units of the Galaxy S21 were pre-ordered during the two-week period that ended on January 28, but the Galaxy S21 Ultra was apparently the main driving force behind this success.
Galaxy S21 Ultra was responsible for over 50% of orders in the UK
Samsung UK claims that the Galaxy S21 Ultra was the most sought-after model of the three, surpassing the pre-ordered numbers of the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 + combined. In the exact words of Samsung, the phone represented for more than half of sales during the ordering period.
Usually, it is the Plus variant that gains more traction. Last year, at the end of the first half, the Galaxy S20 + became the best-selling model in the series, so only time will tell if the Galaxy S21 Ultra will maintain its momentum in the coming months.
According to Samsung, the reason the Galaxy S21 Ultra was so successful is because it delivered innovation in swords. It has a new AMOLED display that leads to big gains in energy efficiency, 5G connectivity and industry-leading cameras.
At the time of writing, the Galaxy S21 Ultra with 128 GB of storage is available in the UK for £ 1,149 and customers who purchase the device before February 25 will receive a pair of Galaxy Buds Live for free.
