Fallout: the Frontier is one of the biggest and most anticipated Fallout: New Vegas mods ever made, but since its launch on January 15, the mod has found itself at the center of several controversies.
After some criticized the writing of the mod for “fetishistic” and inappropriate content, one of the developers was accused of posting “inappropriate content involving anthropomorphic minors”, resulting in the temporary removal of the mod from the Nexus Mods. The mod is now back online, but not only has the removed developer work been removed, it appears that several other contributors have also removed its content.
According to a post by the tgspy project leader, “several dubbing characters” were removed from the mod after contributors “requested that they not be associated with the project going forward”. In addition, some artists have requested that their content be removed, while the music from the radio station “Breach outreach” has also been removed at the request of the composer. While the mod can be downloaded again, you may notice some missing voice lines – something the team is apparently looking to replace in the near future.
The main reason for taking the mod offline, of course, was to remove the content made by the ejected developer, especially its “icons and autoinserts”. As for the controversial lines and the content that was scheduled for removal, we now have a little more detail: the lines about enslaving a companion named America have been removed, along with an inappropriate line from underage Mae. The team apparently modified and removed “some pieces of objectionable content modification”, although the team did not detail exactly what was changed.
“We recognize that these topics were not handled with tact, however, there was never any malicious intent behind the writing of the lines,” said tgspy.
I haven’t played Fallout Frontier yet, but I’m absolutely surprised that this character is just a replacement for the poorly disguised fetishes of writers pic.twitter.com/pi4UOl2X9p

In the meantime, those strange lizard people you could have sex with have been “blocked” in the current version of the mod, but will be reintroduced into an optional file at a later date. So you can really only blame yourself for downloading.

It seems that the mod still has a future on Steam, with the promise of new updates for the construction of Steam “to allow a more independent start”. The mod page on Steam is currently hidden, but the Steam release is apparently being finalized after some issues with the launcher. The project leader previously stated that the new upload would be The Frontier’s “final build”, but with voice lines needing to be replaced and work to be done on the Steam build, it seems that the team’s work is not yet complete.
