Mach 1 is back in 2021, replacing Bullitt in the Mustang line. Mach 1 is above the EcoBoost and GT models, but below the Shelbys. Here are the details on prices and options.

Mach 1 is only available as a fastback – no top-down convertible cruise with this model. (Ford and Dodge do not offer convertible versions of their most powerful models.) Mach 1 comes in two versions; the base car starts at $ 52,720. This brings you good things like the Recaro sports seats, a dashboard-mounted chassis number plate and the handling package, which comes with top mounts with adjustable support, deck spoiler and 19-inch wheels.

Mach 1 Premium is the next step. Starts at $ 54,315. The extra $ 1,595 gives you things like heated and cooled seats and a heated steering wheel.

There are seven exterior colors: Racing Red, Velocity Blue, Twister Orange, Iconic Silver, Grabber Yellow, Oxford White and Shadow Black. Four options of stripes complete the exterior painting: two ribbons and two racing. Twister Orange is the only color that has an extra cost, for $ 495. Each stripe is available in all exterior colors. Unfortunately, if you don’t care what the stripes look like, they can’t be removed.

Mach 1 is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 that produces 480 horsepower. You can choose a standard six-speed manual with matching rotation or an optional $ 1,595 10-speed automatic. There are not many options to choose from, as this thing comes loaded. Mach 1 includes the performance package along with the active exhaust and the MagnaRide damping system. You can choose 19-inch wheels for $ 394 and red brake calipers for $ 495. This completes the external options.

Inside, it’s the same story. It’s loaded, with the only options for the interior being a $ 595 dashboard navigation system that I would ignore and the $ 1,595 excellent-looking Recaro sports seats. However, remember that if you choose these, you will lose the power setting. Altogether, a Mach 1 fully loaded with all the options (10 auto speeds, $ 495 Orange Paint, etc.) totals $ 59,085. This is just the basic car, mind you. I would save the $ 4,280 and have no options.

Mach 1 Premium is more or less the same, with some important differences in options that set it apart. On the one hand, Premium has yet another color option, Fighter Jet Gray. It is a kind of light blue-gray that is popular on many models now. This color is part of a larger $ 1,000 Mach 1 appearance package that must be selected if that color is chosen. Premium also gets an extra black stripe option with orange accents. There is a $ 395 “enhanced security package” that is practically Ford that charges $ 400 for wheel locks. Then there’s the $ 1,295 Mach 1 Elite package. This gives you a 12 speaker B&O sound system with CD player (!) And includes the security package mentioned earlier.

The differences within the Premium boil down to the optional $ 1,595 leather Recaro seats and an ambient lighting system that requires the Recaros. Note, however, that you are unable to heat and cool the seats with Recaros. In all, you are looking at $ 63,000 for Mach 1.

That’s a lot of currency for what equates to being a spotted GT. If the Shelby GT350 still existed, it would be the best buy. It started at $ 60,440. But if you are looking for a compact car that is more than a GT, but not as crazy as a Shelby, Mach 1 is it.
