If you just unpacked a new PC or recently updated your software, when you boot your Windows 10 computer for the first time, there are some settings and presets that you want to activate to ensure the best user experience.
First, log in to your Microsoft account to sync your previous settings and save any new settings made in Windows 10. Next, check for updates – if you just updated using an older version of Windows 10, you’ll want to do this to make sure you have the latest version of everything. To stay up to date, sign up for the Windows Insider Program to get access to the latest features.
Here is the next round of settings you want to switch:
- Go to Exhibition and adjust Night Light Mode to adjust the color temperature of the screen during the dark hours.
- Go to Notifications and actions to turn off all Microsoft alerts.
- Go to Store and call Storage direction to keep your system clean.
- Once your apps are installed, go to Taskbar and “Select which icons appear on the taskbar” to keep everything tidy.
- Likewise, go to Apps and click Start to decide which applications start automatically when the computer starts, which should be just one or two maximum.
