Emerging Little Fires Everywhere star Lexi Underwood will play Malia Obama in the anthology series The First Lady.
The 17-year-old will showcase her talent as the forward-looking eldest daughter of the first family, acting alongside Viola Davis as Michelle Obama and OT Fagbenle as President Barack Obama.
The next Showtime series will explore the lives of women at the center of the White House, with the first season focused on Elenor Roosevelt (played by Gillian Anderson), Betty Ford (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Mrs. Obama (Davis).

Lexi stood out in the role of Pearl, opposite Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon in Hulu’s limited series, Little Fires Everywhere.
His role earned him a NAACP Image Award nomination.
Although still young, Underwood boasts an impressive list of credits, appearing in Criminal Minds, Family Reunion, Walk the Plank, The Good Doctor and Will vs. The future.
She is a veteran on stage, making her Broadway debut at age 11 as Young Nala in the hit production of The Lion King.

The news from the Underwood cast comes just days after the news that Dakota Fanning would play another of the teenagers living on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Once upon a time Hollywood actress will play Susan Ford, the only daughter of President Gerald Ford (in the role of Aaron Eckhart).
They are also expected to appear in the upcoming series Rhys Wakefield and Judy Greer, the last of which came on the scene to fill a role previously occupied by Pamela Adlon.

The main photograph of The First Lady began late last month, with Georgia serving as the filming location.
