At the February State of Play event, Sony announced a new chapter in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, called Intergrade, scheduled for release on June 10, 2021.
Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade stars Yuffie, an optional playable character from Final Fantasy 7, in Midgar as she tries to steal rare material from Shinra Corp – the evil corporation that Cloud and his team are also battling in the main storyline.
Sony didn’t say how big the Intergrade content update will be, but the trailer for the extra content said it will bring a number of graphical improvements, like better reflective lighting and particle effects, along with faster load times and a new mode of Photograph.
By the sound of it tweet , the extra content will only be available on PS5 for an undisclosed price, but Sony says players will be able to transfer their saved data from PS4 to PS5 when the DLC is released later this year. Of course, players will be able to get a free update to the PS5 version of the PS4 version as well.

While fans are already looking forward to the second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Intergrade looks like it will act as a sort of filler episode to introduce a new character and improvements, while the main team continues to work on the next part of the game.
In a way, it is really suitable for Yuffie to be included in the Interlude chapter, as it really refers to the character’s roots as an optional secondary character. That’s good news is that players who don’t want to spend extra money on DLC will not miss any important plot points, while diehard fans can still get the full experience by trying a little harder while waiting for the next game to end.
That said, if the Yuffie chapter is only available on the PS5 version of the game, it can be difficult for PS4 owners who haven’t yet upgraded due to PS5 refueling issues.
As for when we will actually see Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, no one knows at this point, but with a series of delays in the original Sony games now, it wouldn’t be surprising if we had to wait until 2022 – or even 2023 – to see the final showdown between Cloud and Sephiroth.
