The film Demon Slayer is finally arriving in the USA after breaking records in Japan

The excellent and very popular anime Demon slayer it had the greatest box office success possible in Japan – the film adaptation of the manga “Mugen Train” is the highest grossing film in the country’s history. Now, the film finally arrives in North America, starting with a theatrical screening in the United States and Canada on April 23 with distribution by Aniplex of America and Funimation.

The official title of the film, in true anime style, is a bit complicated: Demon Slayer – Kimetsu No Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train. But that did not stop the film from its domination at the box office. He broke the $ 100 million mark in Japan in just 10 days and has since raised nearly $ 400 million in the country alone, surpassing Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away and Titanic for the record of all time.

The movie is rated R and lasts an hour and 57 minutes, ensuring that fans of the beautifully animated high-octane combat in the fantasy anime will see some bloody, well-choreographed battle scenes. There will also be exhibitions in 4DX and IMAX, and dubbed and subtitled versions. According to Aniplex and Funimation, those interested in attending Mugen Train at home you will have to wait until June 22, when the purchase and digital rental will be distributed on Amazon, Apple TV, Google Play, Microsoft Store, Vudu and PlayStation Store.

For those who don’t know, Demon slayer is a fantasy manga by Koyoharu Gotouge that focuses on the trials of young swordsman Tanjiro Kamado, who sets out on a mission to return his sister to human form after she turns into a demon. Mugen Train specifically covers an intermediate part of the manga’s plot, following the adaptation of the first anime season from the beginning of the narrative and the first arcs. The anime is produced by the renowned studio Ufotable, which also animated the film and is working on the show’s second season, which will premiere in 2021.
