Yoshinori Kitase and Naoki Hamaguchi say that the next Final Fantasy 7 Remake sequence will evolve the battle system even further.
Developers of Final Fantasy VII Remake – Part 2 said the game’s battle system will continue to further evolve the series’ iconic combat. Final Fantasy VII Remake changed the battle system from the one used in the original game, switching from turn-based combat to real-time action, while iterating on the latest system from recent mainline inputs, such as Final Fantasy XV.
One thing that Final Fantasy VII Remake he was excellent at making all the characters feel unique on the battlefield. Cloud could switch between agile combat style and slow combat style, based on counterattack, while Barret excelled at shooting enemies from a distance. Tifa had access to a number of different martial arts moves that she could freely switch, and Aerith attacked enemies with her magical powers. Final Fantasy VII Remake Producer Yoshinori Kitase and co-director Naoki Hamaguchi appeared during the CEDEC + KYUSHU 2020 online program and discussed the game’s next sequence. One way the battle system is likely to change is through the addition of group members. Red XIII may not have been playable in Final Fantasy VII Remake, but he is probably the first in line to become a party member afterwards. The skills of the main characters will also need to be expanded, as they have not yet reached the limits of what they could achieve in the original version of Final Fantasy VII. If characters like Cait Sith, Cid, Yuffie and Vincent appear in the sequel, they will also need their own special abilities. This doesn’t even take into account the new members of the group, since Square Enix is free to change the plot and mechanics as it wishes now. There is plenty of room for the battle system to grow in Final Fantasy VII Remake – Part 2. The main characters faced only the threats present in Midgar, which represented only a small part of the original game. The battle system may need to be revised when players reach the world map and have access to open spaces, and it may also be necessary to adjust the combat for the inevitable underwater battle against the Emerald Weapon. Square Enix has a lot of space to develop the battle system in future games, especially now that the story has left the original Final Fantasy 7 behind.
