LAKELAND, Florida – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Under the guidance of the federal government, retailers participating in the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program should prioritize the following individuals for vaccine appointments until further notice:

• teachers, school staff and caregivers of children working in pre-primary, primary and secondary schools, as well as Head Start and Early Head Start programs (including teachers, staff and bus drivers) and

• those who work as or for licensed child care providers, including family and center-based care providers.

Publix will follow this new guideline during its next COVID-19 vaccine programming opportunity in Florida, Wednesday, March 10.

After those in the prioritized group have finished making appointments, all remaining appointments will be available to other eligible individuals.

Johnson & Johnson Vaccine

Pharmacy Publix received its first shipment of the single-dose COVID-19 vaccine from Johnson & Johnson. With this distribution, Publix will begin administering Johnson & Johnson and Moderna vaccines at its pharmacies in Florida. To allow eligible individuals to choose which vaccine they will receive, starting March 10, every Wednesday, the scheduling opportunity will be dedicated exclusively to appointments to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Eligibility

According to state and federal requirements, the following groups are currently eligible to receive vaccines: all teachers and staff in elementary and high school and day care centers (the priority group mentioned above); adults under the age of 65 who are considered extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 by a doctor (a completed form from the state of Florida signed by a doctor is required); health professionals with direct contact with the patient and residents or members of the team of long-term institutions; individuals aged 50 or over who are sworn firefighters or police officers; and individuals aged 65 and over.

Vaccines are provided only by appointment, while supplies last, through the online reservation system at publix.com/covidvaccine. It is not possible to make an appointment by calling Publix or Publix Pharmacy.

The online reservation system will open on Wednesday, March 10, at 7:00 am Eastern time, to anyone who meets state and federal requirements, with priority for teachers and school and daycare staff, as directed by the federal government. . Appointments made on Wednesday, March 10, will be to receive the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday, March 13, or Sunday, March 14.

In the future, eligible individuals may plan to access the online reservation system to make reservations as follows, as long as Publix continues to receive doses of vaccine from the state and federal governments, except in unforeseen circumstances. Clients with an appointment for the second dose of Moderna vaccine are not affected by any variation in scheduling opportunities and must arrive at the COVID-19 vaccine check-in area on the scheduled date and time.

Necessary documentation

Adults under the age of 65 who depend on the state’s criteria for being extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 to be eligible must provide the completed state official form which can be found on the Florida Department of Health website and must be signed by a doctor .

Publix administers vaccines in all 43 Florida counties with Publix Pharmacy locations.
