The FBI releases new safety images of a person placing tubular bombs outside the headquarters of the RNC and DNC

Two tubular bombs near the Democratic and Republican headquarters were planted on January 5, the night before the Capitol insurrection, the FBI said.

The videos, which offer various angles from various surveillance cameras, offer a clearer view of a masked individual wearing a hood as the person moves through the neighborhood and close to the RNC and DNC. At a certain point, the individual stops and cleans his glasses. They also sit on a bench near the DNC.

In January, the FBI published a wanted poster of the suspect, who wore Nike Air Max Speed Turf sneakers in yellow, black and gray, and included enhanced photos of them, along with photos of the devices. Authorities said the bombs were placed between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm on January 5, the day before the insurrection.

“We believe that the information released today will help someone to recognize the suspect, or something about them,” said FBI assistant director Steven D’Antuono in a video statement.

D’Antuono said the person believed to have placed the barrel pumps was wearing a mask, a gray sweatshirt and black and gray Nike sneakers.

“A device was placed in an alley behind the RNC,” said D’Antuono. “The other was placed next to a park bench next to the DNC.”

In addition to providing the suspect’s physical description, the FBI called on the public to present any information about people who may have experienced behavioral changes before, during or after the January 6 uprising.

“This could include making travel plans for Capitol Hill or researching the locations of the DNC and RNC,” said D’Antuono, as well as anyone who may have purchased threaded tubes and kitchen timers before the incident.

CNN previously reported that the devices were connected to egg timers and filled with an explosive powder. ATF, FBI, US Capitol Police and DC Metropolitan Police officers responded to the scene in the two offices, which are less than four hundred meters from each other and just a few blocks south of the Capitol, and the bombs were safely detonated on the spot by robots.

The bombs were discovered with a difference of minutes around 1:00 pm ET on January 6, just as a crowd of furious supporters of then President Donald Trump descended on the building after a close rally with the president, according to one report by the acting head of the US Capitol gave to lawmakers in January and the FBI poster.

The FBI, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, is offering a $ 100,000 reward for information that leads to the identification of the person responsible for placing the explosives. They are asking people to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or send tips online at Tips.fbi.gov, which can be sent anonymously.
